Kim Breilein is quick to recognize strengths and accomplishments, which really rewards her students for their practicing and motivates them to keep working. In addition, Mrs. Breilein gives clear and specific guidance for improvement—she ensures the student understands exactly how to progress to the next level with assigned flute lessons, recital pieces, and overall musical ability. Our daughter has earned high marks for her flute performances at regional music educators’ competitions, and we’re extremely pleased with her advancement under Mrs. Breilein’s flute instruction.

Mrs. Breilein is an excellent flute player whose traditional method of teaching inspires her students to practice hard, and with her influence, they develop excellent tone and musicality, as well as technical skill. Kim's record speaks for itself. Five of the last seven years her students have won the Washington regional Solo and Ensemble contest for flutes in Bellingham. I have had the great privilege and joy of accompanying those students. Kim has a terrific knack for bringing the best out of young musicians and making it fun, too.
The Enchanted Flute Choir, which she directs, opens up another world for all ages and abilities on flute. I was a music major in college but have never experienced anything quite like this. Audiences love it. Offers multiple opportunities for smaller ensembles in addition to the large group.
I have known parents who went to great lengths to arrange for their child to take lessons from Kim. Some of her students have gone on to major in music in college, now actively teaching students of their own.
One could talk at length about Kim's abilities as performer and teacher. But let me just say that accompanying her students has been one of my greatest musical joys.
