MISSION

Ilove to play the flute! It is my desire as a teacher to instill that love in my students. My approach is positive, encouraging, and individually tailored to each student. I enjoy working with students of all ages, at all levels. With over 20 years’ experience teaching flute, I am a certified Suzuki flute instructor. My teaching style is a blend of both Traditional and Suzuki methods.

Although I love to start the young beginners on their musical journey, I also enjoy working with the more advanced high school and college students, adults as beginners, or those adults wishing to take up where they left off years ago. I am primarily a “classical” musician, and my teaching reflects that. My experience with performance and competitions gives me added insight on how to prepare young flutists for recitals, competitions and auditions.

Group lessons are also available. These are arranged on an individual basis. If you have 2-5 young flutists who are interested in starting lessons together, let’s talk! After the first few months, it is usually beneficial to incorporate weekly individual lessons for each child, while continuing to meet as a group on a monthly basis.

Lessons are available at my home studio in Oak Harbor, Peterson’s International Music School in Mount Vernon, and Hugo Helmer Music in Burlington.
